1. Roman 8:5
Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.

Meaning: Our thoughts have a great impact on us.  Our thoughts are what impact our words and actions.  When your mind is not in a good place you can be hurtful in words and deeds.  Yet often our mind gets burdened by anxiety, despair, and fear.  If you notice the circular thoughts, stop them by changing the direction of your thoughts.  Don't allow your mind to be dominated!  Focus on ways you can show mercy to others or what you can say to respond with a gentle tone.  Focus on things that please the Spirit.


2. Psalm 103:13
The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.

Meaning: Sometimes it can be difficult to think of the Lord in terms of a father.  Our earthly, albeit human, father may not have loved us the way we feel loved or even abandoned us altogether.  There can be a gap left between what was modeled by our earthly father and how our heavenly Father loves us.  Yet we know God is tender and compassionate.  We must find it in our hearts to forgive our father so that we may fully experience the love of our Father.  Pray your heavenly Father will help you uncover and release any roots of anger or bitterness as you walk in relationship with Him.


3. Proverbs 22:15
A youngster's heart is filled with foolishness, but physical discipline will drive it far away.

Meaning: This proverb is filled with valuable wisdom and can be applied with the struggles of parenting a teenager.  Students who have time on their hands often find themselves getting into trouble.  Implementing a physical routine such as playing football,  working a job requiring physical labor and is good experience for them.  It trains a teenager to be disciplined, focused on time management, and works out their extra energy.  It's a rough road walking alongside and parenting a teen, but this wisdom is practical when applied.

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High.

Meaning: Have you ever heard a song on the radio which just moved you inside?  You want to listen to it over and over again because it touched you and made you feel something.  Have you ever thought about turning it into a song of praise?  It doesn't expressly have to be a song about God, but we can sing or hum along as if we are singing to God.  Turn it into a love song where your heart is moved towards God since we know He looks at the heart.

“Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him."

1. Mark 12:30
And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.

et: Tu aimeras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, de tout ton coeur, de toute ton âme, de toute ta pensée, et de toute ta force.


Meaning: Is your heart wholeheartedly serving God where He has placed you?  Has your heart moved on and God won't let you go?  The danger of this happening is the fruits of your labor becomes much less fruitful.  However, it is entirely possible to once again bear bountiful fruit.  Even though it may be difficult to do, bring all of your heart back to where you have been placed until God moves you elsewhere.  Bring back your heart.


2. 2 Timothy 4:16
The first time I was brought before the judge, no one came with me. Everyone abandoned me. May it not be counted against them.

Dans ma première défense, personne ne m`a assisté, mais tous m`ont abandonné. Que cela ne leur soit point imputé!


Meaning: When you are alone and feel abandoned by people, how does your heart feel towards them?  When Paul wrote these words he was chained in prison, alone and facing execution.  These were some of Paul's last words recorded and yet he didn't curse those who refused to testify and deserted him.  Let us pray for hearts that would pardon those who desert us when we need them most.

Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.

Meaning: It happens.  Life gets so tough and in our mind we discredit God.  We ask ourselves, "What can the Bible have to say about my situation?" or "How can Jesus even help?"  This is not the time to get angry and turn against Jesus.  He knows exactly what you are walking through.  You are not alone and he has felt your pain.  Cry out to Jesus with your heart.  Take comfort from these words in the Bible.


4. 1 Timothy 1:19
Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.

Meaning: When God opens our eyes and we see sin in our lives we face an important decision.  We can choose to deal with the sin and clear our conscience or we can choose to follow our own way.  Unfortunately, by not clearing our conscience and staying on the wrong path, it takes a terrible toll on our walk with God.  The longer you embrace your sin and allow it to flourish, the harder it becomes to turn back.  A clear conscience is a beautiful thing, but more so is an intact faith.

Never slander a worker to the employer, or the person will curse you, and you will pay for it.

Meaning: Spreading rumors, saying untrue words, or trying to get others to think poorly all describe slanderous actions.  But we ourselves do these actions when we feel we have been wronged.  Sometimes we get an employer involved which makes things worse.  Not only are we trying to get revenge we are also failing to take their situation into account by trying to ruin their livelihood.  When you feel wronged, try to catch yourself, let it go, and forgive.
